A Standard-Bearer of Truth!

A Standard-Bearer of Truth!

A hunger for truth has filled the world today! The lies and deception being cast upon humanity by the world is stoking up fires of desire in the hearts of many for some semblance of truth—something they can grasp onto as society continues to collapse around them. Yet, finding those willing to stand up and speak truth is becoming more difficult every day.

The flood of deceit we are witnessing in the world’s political realms has washed over into the pulpits of many churches across our nation and around the world. Men of God, once standard-bearers of truth, now stuff a mix of worldly advice with a little feel-good icing on top down the throats of their people and call it a message. They have relegated their position as a caring shepherd down to a scalper of the sheep—fleecing the flock of all they can get while giving back little in return.

GOD spoke these words of warning through the prophet Ezekiel: “Woe to the shepherds of Israel who have been feeding themselves! Should not shepherds feed the flock? You eat the fat, you clothe yourselves with the wool, you slaughter the choice animals, but you do not feed the sheep!” (Ezekiel 34:2-3 NET).

Through the prophet Jeremiah, GOD declared: “The leaders of my people are sure to be judged. They were supposed to watch over my people like shepherds watch over their sheep. But they are causing my people to be destroyed and scattered” (Jeremiah 23:1 NET).

The heart and mind of too many pastors have become consumed by the things of the world. A true man of GOD will discover he has little time for hobbies and pleasures as his passion, his hobby, his pleasure will be the work the LORD has called him to and that passion will consume his every moment.

A pastor made the following statement at a minister’s conference I once attended: “If there is anything on this earth you would rather be doing than preaching the Word of GOD, you should immediately stop preaching the Word and pursue your other desires, for your heart is not in the work of the LORD!” This thought still drives my heart today!

Pastor, GOD has called you, anointed you with His power and given you authority from His throne to handle His Word before His sheep. You will one day stand before the throne of Jesus to give an account of what you did with the mission He assigned you to. What are you doing with what GOD has given you? Are you truly serving GOD by feeding His sheep, caring for His sheep and maintaining the church of the Lord Jesus Christ?

“When he (Jesus) saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd” (Matthew 9:36 NLT). The confusion and helplessness continues to haunt our sheep today.

Together, we must step up to the plate, take our calling seriously, and become the standard-bearer of truth GOD has ordained us to be!

Are you with me today?
