A Pastor With Guts

The following was a prayer given in the opening session of the Kansas Senate some time back.

Pastor Joe Wright prayed:

“Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask
your forgiveness and to seek your direction and
guidance. We know Your Word says, ‘Woe to those
who call evil good,’ but that is exactly what we
have done.

We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed
our values.

We have exploited the poor and called it

the lottery.

We have rewarded laziness and called it
welfare.

We have killed our unborn and called it

choice.

We have shot abortionists and called it
justifiable.

We have neglected to discipline our
children and called it building self-esteem..

We have abused power and called it
politics.

We have coveted our neighbor’s possessions
and called it ambition.

We have polluted the air with profanity and
pornography and called it freedom of expression.

We have ridiculed the time-honored values
of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.

Search us, Oh, God, and know our hearts
today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free.
Amen!

The response was immediate. A number of
legislators walked out during the prayer in
protest. In 6 short weeks, Central Christian
Church, where Rev. Wright is pastor, logged more than
5,000 phone calls with only 47 of those calls
responding negatively.. The church is now receiving
international requests for copies of this prayer
from India, Africa and Korea .

With the Lord’s help, may this prayer sweep
over our nation and wholeheartedly become our
desire so that we again can be called ‘one nation
under God.’ “

FEELINGS OF POWERLESSNESS!

FEELINGS OF POWERLESSNESS!
I don’t know about you but for me there are days I feel so overwhelmed by the weight of everything that seems to be crashing in on me. I get these feelings of absolute powerlessness and I begin to feel like Satan is having a field-day beating me around. You ever feel that way? Maybe you feel that way right now…?

D.L. Moody made a statement that has become a lifesaver for me in these situations. He said, “When a man has no strength, if he leans on God, he becomes powerful.” Satan’s tactic is to get our eyes off of the only One who has the power to overcome him. He will do and act in whatever way necessary to lead our eyes and thoughts away from God…and God’s abilities.

If you are struggling today, refocus, realign your sights…look to God and to His strength and find His peace that passes all understanding. Isaiah said it beautifully when he said: “But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint” (Is 40:31).

Look to the Lord today, mount up with His wings; run without weariness; walk without fainting and stand in the face of the enemy and declare your freedom and independence founded upon the Rock—Jesus Christ!

God bless you this special day!

A THOUGHT TO CONTEMPLATE!

A THOUGHT TO CONTEMPLATE!
A glass window stands before us. We raise our eyes and see the glass; we note its quality, and observe its defects; we speculate on its composition. Or we look straight through it on the great prospect of land and sea and sky beyond. So there are two ways of looking at the world. We may see the world and absorb ourselves in the wonders of nature. That is the scientific way. Or we may look right through the world and see God behind it. That is the religious [Christian] way. ~~ Benjamin B Warfield
