Standing Around Waiting for the Rapture!

Standing Around Waiting for the Rapture!

It always amazes me how many Christians are simply standing around waiting for the rapture to get em outta here! I go into churches and see multitudes of people doing nothing for the sake of the Kingdom of GOD. I begin to imagine in my mind how powerful a force all these people could be if they were just had some kind of motivation to carry out GOD’s purpose for their life. I guess that is where one of the big problems is today, people lack any knowledge of what their purpose really is.

I find as I talk to people that one of two things creates the dilemma we find today of church-people simply standing around waiting for the rapture. The first is a lack of education and training within the local church. People simply aren’t being “Sent out to share Jesus!” The church sometimes encourages their people to bring people in to hear about Jesus but many fail to encourage their people to be the voice—to share Jesus with their friends, co-workers and others about Jesus. Fact is, most people don’t have a clue how to share Jesus if they wanted to.

The other thing is we have in many ways learned that telling others about Jesus is the job of the church—that’s what we pay the preacher and staff for. Similar in many respects to thing number one but a bit different. What I am trying to say is simply this, when Jesus gave the Great Commission, he gave it to the Church — not the building but those who make up the Church — you, me, every other believer who has been, is and will be up until the moment of the rapture. Consider the words of Jesus: Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20).

Jesus desires to find us busy about His work when He returns. Think for a moment about the parable of the talents in Matthew 25:14-28 (review it if need be). Jesus has given every believer talents to be used for building the Kingdom. To those who used their talents for greater things, far greater things were theirs when the Master returned. But for the one who hid his talent, eternal destruction awaited him.

CHURCH, Jesus has a mission for all of us. We are all instructed to share Jesus everywhere we go making an eternal impact everywhere a footprint lands. Quit waiting for your church or pastor to do it. Get busy while you still have time. Jesus is coming back — for a Church that is anticipating His return — not by standing around waiting for Him but by being busy for the sake of the Kingdom!
