The Rapid Demise of a Once Godly Nation

The Rapid Demise of a Once Godly Nation

I don’t know about you, but I find myself overwhelmed by the rapid demise of our once Godly nation. It seems as though only yesterday God was near the forefront of most everything in our society. Our talk often included references to Him; our actions reflected our commitment to Him; the very fabric of our nation was intertwined with Godly influence. However, something drastic has occurred over the last few years. Certainly, our nation has slowly progressed away from God, but as I said, something drastic has taken our nation by storm.

How is it that a man once revered for his great victories at the 1976 Olympics is now finds himself even more revered for having left his wife and family to pursue a transgender lifestyle? Notice, I say “revered!” What has become of our nation? We should be hanging our heads in shame but rather we are speaking up for and out for this national travesty. Rather than recognizing the failure of our nation to take a stand, we are celebrating this failure as a great move forward.

The real failure is in the church. I do not mean to deride the church but I believe ongoing failures within the church and the church’s failure to speak up and speak out over the past 50 years or so has created the climate that we now find ourselves in. Consider what Isaiah said: “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who exchange darkness for light, and light for darkness; who exchange bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and prudent in their own sight!” (Isaiah 5:20-21 ESV). I am reading comments from supposed pastors and church leaders who are standing up for what Bruce Jenner has done. I am in awe, or should I say, overwhelmed with sadness by such a thing.

The storm that has overtaken our nation is our decision to call evil good and good evil. Political correctness coupled with our refusal to call sin—sin; to call wrong—wrong; to call bad—bad; to call evil—evil has created the climate our nation is now in. The time is right around the corner, truth is it is here now, when those who do take a stand and speak out will be ridiculed, criticized and will suffer harm for doing so. Without a major, earthshaking revival sweeping across our land soon, anyone who does take a stand for what is right will be facing public persecution and possibly prosecution for doing so.

Pray for revival! Pray for a move of God! Pray for men and women of God who are not afraid of what man can do rather being afraid of the soon coming judgment of Almighty God upon this once Godly nation!

The Ominous Storms of Rebellion Have Overtaken Us!

The Ominous Storms of Rebellion Have Overtaken Us!

As I was driving this morning, a storm was rapidly approaching from the south. I could see the ominous storm clouds getting closer as I drove.

Immediately my heart began to sense the Spirit of God speaking to me. He was instructing me to watch those clouds. Those clouds were indicators of the ferocity of the coming storm. Then, He began to tell me that the storm clouds of rebellion are moving across America today in the same way. From the halls of the highest court, through the halls of the White House, through the houses of Congress, and much to my dismay, through the halls of many churches across this great land, the storm clouds of rebellion are moving.

The Spirit began to reveal to me that once a nation hands itself over to such heinous acts of rebellion, it has handed itself over to all the wiles of the enemy. I see the gay agenda moving forward at warp speed. I see their mockery of all that is good and righteous. I see the hand of Satan moving them to act more and more in defiance of anything that holds to righteousness.

The Spirit reminded of Jesus in His final days on earth standing over the city of Jerusalem and the words He spoke as recorded in Matthew 23:37-39:

“Jerusalem, Jerusalem! The city who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her. How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, yet you were not willing! See, your house is left to you desolate. For I tell you, you will never see Me again until you say, Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!”

As Jesus’ heart went out to the city that once shined with brilliance as the seat of God’s presence, He saw the destructive powers of the religious people, the politicians, those empowered with her protection and well-being bringing about her rapid demise and destruction. He saw what the awfulness of man’s attempts at doing life his own way had wrought. He saw how the people had become quiet lambs being led to their slaughter—and His heart broke!

How many out there truly have a broken heart for America’s present condition? How many pastors and church leaders are finding their hearts overcome with brokenness as we witness the rapid demise of our once God-fearing nation? We hear many jesting and carrying on as though nothing has changed; while in the corridors around about us, evil is being perpetuated that will bring our nation as flat as the city of Jerusalem found herself after the Roman invasion of 70 AD.

My heart is broken—not so much over the failure of our government—but over the failure of our churches. Our government is a failure because so many churches have become failures. Church people started looking to get what they felt they deserved, all the wealth and fortunes and prosperity. Preachers began getting richer and richer while fleecing their flocks for their own pleasures. The prosperity gospel flourished. Church people began running after after signs and wonders preachers rather than seeking their own right-standing before God. The church began chasing after the next big event and the next big happening while sinners were filing into hell in vast numbers. The church sold itself out to the pleasures of the world and now we are reaping what we have sown.

One thing that sickens my heart and I am pretty certain God’s as well is seeing churches and evangelists flashing their signs announcing their signs and wonders revival they are bringing to town. Not one time in God’s Word do I read of a man of God having a signs and wonders revival. I read of them preaching the gospel message of the saving power of Jesus Christ and oftentimes God’s Spirit did signs and wonders. Oh that we would return to God’s way. Quite looking for the power of man and begin seeking for the power of God. Gold particles and feathers falling from the ceiling—what a sham and a shame.

Is there any hope for America left? As long as there is a God, there is hope. However, the church needs to come back to a place where she focuses on her own need for true repentance; her own need for a Holy Ghost cleansing to move through her midst. My fear is that our nation has gone too far. My fear is that sin and pleasure has so infiltrated the church that she will never find her way out of it all and back to God. Pulpits are filled with individuals who have no passion for the lost, preferring to share a little watered-down sermonette that has no power, that has no effect, other than making individuals feel good about themselves. Sermons should impact the individual listener. Sermons should rock the hearts of every hearer. Sermons must wake up the listener to his own awfulness and wretchedness! It is time we quit feeling so good about ourselves and recognize, as Paul did, how wretched we truly are.

I encourage you to consider the words of Paul found in Romans 7:19-25 and apply them to your own heart and life:

“For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.”

Church, God is trying to wake us up! Pastors, church leaders—God is trying to wake you up. The storms of rebellion have encompassed our land and Satan’s fury is now being loosed against the church and its leaders that are truly following after God’s righteousness. I truly believe we are about to be enveloped by waves of mass persecution against the church of the living God here in America.

Yesterday, I felt the Spirit speaking to my spirit all day to be prepared for the persecution that is coming. My only hope is that I am able to stand firm for my Lord Jesus Christ when the evil-doers come looking for me and commit their acts of evil against me.

I see people standing up and speaking out. I see them getting ridiculed and vocally persecuted for their stand—sadly, many of those ridiculing claim to be pastors and preachers. We are told don’t judge, only love.

“Herein is love. Not that we loved God but that He loved us and gave His Son as the propitiation for our sins” (1 John 4:10).

Love judges sin in order to bring the sinner to righteousness. Preach righteousness and right living. For those of you taking a stand, may God bless you with a holy boldness to speak out even louder!

The Biblical Role of the Church in Today’s World

The Biblical Role of the Church in Today’s World

What is the Biblical role of the church in today’s world? As I look around, I find that many must not know. It is apparent there are some fallacies floating about or maybe just a failure by leadership to understand clearly. The book of Acts is a great place to go to learn what the early church was doing and why.

First, we recognize that the church was the place from which evangelists and missionaries were sent out from in obedience to Christ’s command in Acts 1:8: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Second, we recognize the church to be a place of fellowship, meeting one another’s needs, communion and worship for the believers. Acts 2:42-47 tells us: “They devoted themselves…to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer…. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”

Third, and perhaps most importantly, the church is to be a place where believers receive proper teaching and instruction in the teachings and doctrines of the Word. Acts 2:42 says: “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching….”

To understand this even better, we must go over to Ephesians 4:11-16 where the responsibilities of the pastor and leaders of the church are taught. Paul writes: “It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”

What he is saying is this: It is the job of the pastor and teachers of the local church to prepare the believers for their own works of service by maturing them in the teachings and doctrines of the Word. This instruction should be deep enough that it helps the believers to recognize false teachings and teachers when they come and to be able to stand against these by the knowledge and understanding of the Word planted within them. Certainly, study of the Word individually is good, but the deep teachings come from proven pastors and teachers.

A comment before I close: Sadly, too many teachers and pastors have such a shallow understanding of the Word themselves, they are unable to feed their flock the deep teachings of the Word. Americans are being blown about by every wind of false teaching and doctrine from around the globe today. Because of this, many in the church are abandoning the truth of the Word to follow these falsehoods because the church has failed to ground them properly in the Word.

This exhortation from Paul to young Timothy is so needed in America’s pulpits today: “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine” (2 Timothy 4:2). I want to encourage church leaders to be constant students of the Word. You can never know too much.

SAD STATE OF AFFAIRS, AMERICA!

SAD STATE OF AFFAIRS, AMERICA!

I am grieved in my spirit over the current condition of America. I would hope that most of you out there reading this recognize this as well.

Recently, with little fanfare or acknowledgement from the liberal media, it was revealed by video testimony that Planned Parenthood has been taking the pieces of the unborn babies they have been murdering in their facilities and offering them out for sale to the highest bidder for medical research and other uses, God only knows what. What a travesty for our nation!

On that same day, accompanied by an extreme amount of fanfare and glory from all points, a man, once considered a great Olympian, received a very special award from ESPN honoring his courage to take a stand—a stand for being transgender or as I say for getting all mixed up in who he was and now somehow thinking he had become a woman??? To top off the idiocy of it all, he somehow feels that American people must show proper respect for his decision and the same decision many of his mixed-up friends across America have made. The man has a right to adhere to whatever he wants to believe in but demanding respect from others shows how degraded America’s morals and ethics have become.

The two scenarios played out on the same day reflect the current sick condition America is in today.

God has a Word to speak about this whole mixed-up thing and that is the Word I will speak as well: “This is why God delivered them over to degrading passions. For even their females exchanged natural sexual intercourse for what is unnatural. The males in the same way also left natural sexual intercourse with females and were inflamed in their lust for one another. Males committed shameless acts with males and received in their own persons the appropriate penalty for their perversion. And because they did not think it worthwhile to have God in their knowledge, God delivered them over to a worthless mind to do what is morally wrong. They are filled with all unrighteousness, evil, greed, and wickedness. They are full of envy, murder, disputes, deceit, and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, arrogant, proud, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, and unmerciful. Although they know full well God’s just sentence-that those who practice such things deserve to die-they not only do them, but even applaud others who practice them” (Romans 1:26-32).

God uses some strong language in relating to the acts: “degraded passions…unnatural…shameless…perversion…filled with all unrighteousness…deserve to die.” And when Jesus addressed the issue of harming a little one, He said: “it would be better for him if a heavy millstone were hung around his neck and he were drowned in the depths of the sea!” (Matthew 18:6).

America has rounded a corner that I am not sure she will ever be able to return from. She has crossed a line that can possibly never be uncrossed. At some point, God has to say enough is enough. At some point, God is going to call down judgment upon America for her willful disobedience.

I think about the Iranian Nuclear Deal Obama is touting. Maybe, the nukes we are allowing them to secretly produce through this deal will be our judgment, as they are unleashed upon our cities. Maybe ISIS will begin bombing and terrorizing our cities, and then again, maybe God will simply rain down fire and brimstone upon us like He did Sodom and Gomorrah.

Church, your gorgeous buildings, your philosophies of love, love, love, your watered-down sermonettes that put all your people to sleep every week—they offer no protection from the judgment of God that must come.

Preachers, get on your knees and repent, then get into your pulpits and proclaim the truth of God’s Word. Stop watering it down. Stop worrying about offending your people. Start worrying about what an offense we as a nation have become to our Creator, Redeemer God.

We need to start grieving in our spirits over the condition of the church in America and the condition America is now in because of the condition of the church. Judgment is coming to America and even worse, the judgment we must all face one day as we stand before Almighty God to give an account for everything we have ever done….
